Securing Land Rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Every year, the International Land Coalition (ILC) Asia organizes the Asia Land Forum. This unique event brings together ILC members and other stakeholders from grassroots organizations, activists, local and international NGOs and researchers, to multilateral organizations and government agencies from the region. The event aims at developing a common ground of the political, economic, environmental, and social linkages between land governance, food security, poverty, and democracy.

You can choose to attend one or more of the following sessions.

Register for 28 Oct 2021 session | 3PM (GMT+7)

This session will showcase the results of AFA’s study on the status of CT, food security, and traditional livelihoods in the ASEAN region, as well as the insights/ experiences of South Asian nations. The discussion and exchanges facilitated by the session will contribute to several ILC commitments including secure tenure rights (commitment 1); strong small-scale family farmers (commitment 2); secure territorial rights for IPs (commitment 5); locally managed ecosystems (commitment 6), among others. In addition, it will contribute to several SDGs such as eradicating poverty and hunger (goal 1); building a world of justice where human rights are protected (Goal 16), protecting the environment, and fighting climate change (Goal 13), among others. Access to land influences employment opportunities and migratory journeys of the younger generations. The key to enabling secure access to land lies in the involvement of youth voices in local, national and international land governance. AFA and other members of the Youth and Land Asia platform will be presenting the key issues and needs of youth in accessing land in the region. Click here for more information
