Dear Network Members,
If you are doing community-based justice work in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia, and want to draw on your practice and experimentation to generate learning about innovative legal empowerment approaches, this is an opportunity for you!
The Legal Empowerment Network is partnering with the International Development Research Centre to support action-research on legal empowerment. Selected projects will involve learning on how legal empowerment approaches drive systemic-change, build community-power and address the root causes of inequality and exclusion.
Projects can be focussed on a single country, or multiple countries (up to 3 countries) and must be led by local organizations in Africa and South-East Asia. IDRC will provide funding for research projects of a maximum of CA$ 450,000 (for single country projects) and CA$ 800,000 (for multi-country projects) for up to 3 years.
The research supported under this call will contribute to a larger Learning Agenda for Legal Empowerment. The learning agenda will foster deeper collaboration across the legal empowerment field, and address knowledge gaps by focusing the efforts of hundreds of organizations on a set of common questions.
