Challenges facing paralegals in Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe legal practitioners feel threatened by paralegals and as such the development of paralegals is under threat

I don’t think you should be disturbed about that, as long as your intervention is helping the vulnerable people in the society.

Its quite disturbing because our legal Practitioners Act prohibits anyone else from doing legal work (including legal drafting). Therefore strictly speaking no one else other than legal practitioners (as per the Act) cannot do any legal work.

That is very disturbing indeed, what you can do, set up a non- governmental organization that would be registered with your Government, employ the service of Lawyers as legal advisers, then start a campaign to advocate for the recognition of paralegal in your country, mobilize members, send memos to your parliament until they listen to you, grant interviews, go to radio stations, etc. one day your effort will yield a positive fruit.
