LEGEND program shares learning on LE for natural resource investments

DFID’s LEGEND program, which supports Namati’s work on land and natural resources, recently published a newsletter about legal empowerment for communities negotiating with outside investors. There’s a great overview of CLP’s work in Liberia by @RachaelKnight, including a snapshot of how the community of Duah pushed back against a land deal that they had not been consulted on.

Several other articles are of interest for our work – including a note on paralegal and local government empowerment in Mozambique and an update from Open Data Myanmar on combining access to data with legal assistance in resolving land conflicts.

Finally, check out IIED’s Legal Tools for Citizen Empowerment for additional tools, practitioner guides, and publications on strengthening local rights related to land acquisitions.

Best, Erin
