A fellow member of the Legal Empowerment Network, Margaret Satterthwaite, was appointed the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers in November 2022. As a longtime advocate for legal empowerment, she will focus her first report to the UN General Assembly on the promise of legal empowerment and its transformative ability to bring justice closer to communities. We invite you to participate in regional consultations with the UN Special Rapporteur.

  • East, West and Southern Africa Regional Consultation: Wednesday April 26 at 12pm Lagos, 1pm Pretoria/Maputo, 2pm Nairobi (interpretation will be available in English, French and Portuguese) - REGISTER HERE

Am Benson kariba kinyanjui from kenya. I am a human rights defender’s working with Amnesty International Kenya on advocating for justice when individuals are molested in the society. This platform suits my ambitions since I will gain more knowledge on matters related to legal empowerment.
