A new report “Statelessness and Citizenship in the East African Community” has just been released. It was written for UNHCR by Dr. Bronwen Manby, an expert on citizenship in Africa.
The report addresses the intertwined issues of belonging, identity, documentation, nationality and statelessness in the East African region. Both law and practice is addressed and the report is largely organized by issues (rather than countries) - looking at nationality at birth, dual nationality, naturalization, deprivation and renunciation, and many others.
It’s easy to choose an issue that’s of interest to you and then read that section for comparative perspectives!
