Statelessness Index - new tool from the European Network on Statelessness

The European Network on Statelessness has just launched a new online tool called the Statelessness Index.

The Index “enables instant comparison of how different European countries protect people without a nationality and what they are doing to prevent and reduce statelessness, assessing each country’s approach against international norms and good practices.”

You can compare up to four countries at a time across factors such as ratification of international conventions, statelessness determination procedures, stateless population data, detention, and measures states have taken for prevention and reduction of statelessness within their borders.

What do you think of this tool? How might it be useful for advocacy? Would a similar tool on statelessness be valuable in your region?

In terms of monitoring and evaluation of how different jurisdictions are handling statelessness then the tool is effective. It can also aid in finding best practices to be applied in fighting statelessness.
