Greetings from the Citizenship team.
I would like to highlight a learning opportunity around statelessness to all network members falling in the Americas region. This is a great opportunity to learn about statelessness with a specific focus to the region.
The Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion, along with the Americas Network on Nationality and Statelessness, will host a 1-week intensive learning programme for professionals. The course is intended to give participants new knowledge, tools and skills to address statelessness and realise the right to nationality. Learn from an international team of experts and share ideas and experiences with participants from across the region.
This course will provide an insight into fundamental issues surrounding statelessness – its causes, consequences and the tools to address it – and shed light on statelessness in the Americas through tailored assignments and case studies. You can download a flyer about the course in English or in Spanish.
For academics, the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion is collaborating with NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and Open Society Justice Initiative to convene a dedicated week-long programme on statelessness from 5-9 June 2017 at NYU in New York, United States.
The specialised workshop on statelessness for early/mid-career academics provides a forum for meeting and sharing expertise with peers, exchanging ideas with practitioners and participating in an expert meeting on statelessness. The programme, which will be facilitated by leading academics and practitioners in the field, is designed to push participants to look beyond their immediate research focus and explore the bigger picture, to consider their own work through a new lens and to debate unresolved questions.
