I am a chief state counsel in the public prosecution department of a Ministry of Justice. I join this network for the purpose of advocacy. I agree that the power of the law is in peoples hand. I live and work in the most populous city in my country. The prevalence of rape in the society has reached an alarming proportion. Parents because of stigma and other trivial reasons refuse to allow the victims to testify in court. Thus inadvertently aiding the escape and number of rapist in the society. People need to be enlightened of the enormous powers in their hands. They must testify before a rapist can remanded and punished. It is incumbent upon them as parents to see that rapist are punished and deterred.
