Alhassan Sesay is the founder/president of the Sierra Leone School Green Club (SLSGC), Founder of D House Thrift, and co-founder of Dessert Water (SL) Limited etc.He is an ambassador for Green Campus Initiative Nigeria, Citizen Climate Lobby Africa (CCL). A Young African Leader Initiative Fellow (YALI) an initiative of former US President Barrack Obama, an African Changemaker Fellow.

Sierra Leone School Green Club (SLSGC) is an indigenous Community Based Organization (CBO) which was established in 2015. We’ve been engaged in climate change sensitization and mitigation strategy across Sierra Leone. The organization began as the challenges of climate change hit local communities in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world and climate change is having a drastic impact on the livelihood of the already underprivileged communities.

We’ve been successful in achieving grassroots participation in Climate Change resilience strategies. We’ve also succeeded in influencing public opinion about climate change in communities. We’ve planted many trees in different communities. We work with youth in agribusiness.

We hope to have a common agenda in the fight against climate change and make the world or our communities sustainable in the utilization of our natural resources in an environmentally friendly way so that development can reach the least man in society.

Presently we are working on a project called Songo Hamlet, Agricultural Fun Park, an integrated approach to building climate change resilience. The primary goal of the project is to eradicate global hunger and poverty in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner through local initiatives. The intention is to operate and manage a hamlet project that addresses hunger and poverty through the growing of crops, rearing of animals and an amusement park for touristic investment and nature. The project proposes community and technical training, resource management and livelihoods diversification. To achieve diversification, it proposes establishing a Hamlet with gardens with at least several varieties of indigenous crops and animals. The project involves volunteers from the communities who render their skills, time and energy for the successful implementation of the project. These volunteers own and run the hamlet. Proceeds from the Hamlet belong to them and they have organized a savings and loan scheme within the community.

We’ve also established a swamp garden for youth to have a means of employment as a way to reduce crime in the Waterloo community.

Recently, he won an award on SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger) organized by Sierra Young Diplomats.
