My name is John Mary, I am a lawyer by training and an advocate from Uganda. I work with a University Law Clinic in Makerere University called Public Interest Law Clinic. My work involves working with students of law from the university by linking them to communities affected by the law through provision of legal aid, research and conducting legal awareness in slum communities and prisons. We also review bills of law before they are passed into law by parliament to ensure compliance with human rights standards and whether they are alive to the social justice needs of minorities and indigent persons. by joining this platform i hope to share experiences about best practices from my country and to learn from other countries and to share jurisprudence to build on what we have in Uganda.
