I am lawyer working with the Legal Aid Board providing legal advise, assistance and representation to indigent persons. I also advocate and provide advice, assistance and representation for disadvantaged and abused women. Through community outreach and advocacy I am involved in raising awareness and educating our targeted communities on their legal rights and responsibilities. As a defense counsel, I provide legal representation for indigent persons charged with crimes ranging from petty thefts to homicide. I am also therefore acutely aware of the plight of accused persons in the correctional system…a system that is overburdened and ill-equipped to deal with the population we have now. I am interested in interacting and learning from other practitioners and sytems on alternative approaches to helping this population who come from the poorest and most vulnerable parts in our society…
