Ding Peng is a senior program director and principle researcher of East-lake Institute for Social Advancement (EISA), Wuhan, China. He started his public interest law career in 2009 with a master degree in law from Wuhan University. In the past 8 years, he has built his expertise in training legal aid workers and community legal advocates in China, carrying out empirical human rights research, and advocating for policy change. He also contributed several reports on legal aid to the Annual Bluebook of China’s Human Rights (2011-2015). He is currently working on a serial of criminal justice projects to promote the early intervention of lawyers and the protection of poor defendants in death penalty cases in China.
