Siti Rakhma Mary Herwati at present works as the co-chair for knowledge management at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Jakarta. From 2000 to 2011, she joined the Semarang Legal Aid Institute, Central Java, an office under the YLBHI, became the Director from 2008-2011. As a public interest lawyers, she handled many cases mainly land grabbing and environment.

From 2011 to 2013, she worked as Program Head for forest policy and conflict resolution at the Association for Community-Based and Ecological Law-Reform (HuMa) in Jakarta. Besides, she joined Public Interest Lawyer Network (PILNet) in Jakarta who actively assist farmers who have criminalized for defending their land rights. Her education backgrounds are law, environment and urban studies, and human rights. Her Bachelor is Law Study from Diponegoro University in Semarang, Central Java. Rahma has a master from Soegijapranata Catholic University Semarang, Central Java in Environment and Urban Studies. Her second master is from Mahidol University, Thailand in Human Rights.

Her interests and expertise are agrarian reform, natural resources, and environmental studies. She has published her articles and writings about legal aid, human rights, land grabbing, land forest conflict, agrarian reform, and environment in some books, chapter of some books, bulletins, a journal, and newspapers.

At present, she assists human rights defender from 15 offices in doing their Participatory Action Research for agrarian and natural resources issue. She also actively trained paralegals and participant of in structural legal aid trainings conducted by Indonesia Legal Aid Institute and its offices. Besides, she also teaches the subject Agrarian Law in STHI Jentera Jakarta.
