Sónia has 15 years of grassroots public health experience, with a focus on community education and participatory development. She began her career in the Ministry of Health, where she was responsible for designing communications and educational materials and organizing community mobilization campaigns around health. She then went on to work for the Organização Média, Comunicação e Desenvolvimento (MCOD) overseeing efforts to prevent HIV and diarrheal disease, and more recently for ESTAMOS, where she supervised health promotion activities, including an initiative to promote optimal infant feeding practices. Born in Mozambique’s Zambezia Province, Sónia has a degree in Communications Science from the Universidade Apolitécnica in Maputo. She joined Namati in March of 2016.
