Sylvia Namubiru Mukasa, is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and Members of Uganda Law Society. She is a Social Justice Advocate currently working as an Executive Director for Legal Aid service Providers Network. She is currently engaged in advocating for a National Legal Aid Policy and law and general access to justice issues. Her work experience has been mainly in programming and advocating for rights of the poor and marginalized such as women and children .
Previously she has worked as years’ working experience as a judicial officer with the Judiciary of Uganda; worked 6 Year with Uganda Law Society and rose from the ranks of Senior Project advocate , Head Legal Aid & Pro-bono service to Executive director in 2010. She has also worked as Operations Manager and as director of Programmes with Centre for justice studies and innovations under the Justice for children programmes. She hasexperience as judicial officer /advocate Manager/administrator / trainer with justice and human rights based organizations.
She is a holder of a Master’s degree in Development studies : Majoring in Human rights, Gender, Conflict Resolution and Social Justice Perspectives with a specialization in Human rights from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University in the Netherlands; she also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University Uganda; a Diploma in legal Practice from the Law Development Centre Kampala Uganda; a Diploma in Human rights and democratization from Copenhagen Business school Denmark, A certificate in human rights and democratization from Pretoria University south Africa . She holds several certificates relating to institutional Management and Administration, human rights and access to justice obtained from National and international trainings
