Marena is the Program Manager with the Community Team at Mapbox, a mapping technology company, where she supports collaborations with organizations that are working for positive social and environmental impact. Marena’s background is in planning, natural resource management, and working with Indigenous and rural communities on land and resource tenure systems and rural community development.

Marena was part of Namati’s Community Land Protection Program from 2014-2017. Marena has also worked with First Nations in Canada in participatory community planning efforts. Marena holds a Master’s in Natural Resource Management (Planning) from Simon Fraser University and a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences (Economics and Policy) from the University of Guelph.
