After obtaining Master of Laws (LL.M) from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, I was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Bangladesh in 2008 and I have got permission to practice in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in 2010. Since 2011 I am working as Senior Staff Lawyer in Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), a legal aid and human rights organization of Bangladesh. As a Senior Staff Lawyer of the said organization my main responsibilities are to (a) carry out legal advocacy in the form of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to secure fundamental rights of the marginalized and vulnerable groups as well as to ensure accountability of state authorities, (b) undertake grassroots advocacy to disseminate information regarding judgments and orders obtained in Public Interest Litigation (PIL), (c) review existing and proposed laws and policies to ensure conformity with human rights and preparing recommendations for reform, amendment or repeal as necessary and (d) do advocacy with state authorities to strengthen law and policy reform initiatives. The membership of Global Legal Empowerment Network will give me an opportunity to stay in touch of lawyers and community paralegals, human rights activists and grassroots organizers, health advocates and educators, researchers, journalists and public servants from different countries dedicated for legal empowerment which will help me to initiate more effective actions for strengthening legal empowerment movement based on mutual cooperation and sharing.
