The Human Rights Defenders World Summit 2018 will take place in Paris, the 29, 30 and 31 October 2018. The Summit will provide an international platform for HRDs voices to be heard, build strategies and actions to ensure the effective protection of HRDs, as well as call on the international community to increase its commitment to protect HRDs and promote their work around the world.
150 human rights defenders from around the world will participate in the Summit, and part of this delegation will be constituted by a group of individuals selected through a process of public nominations open to all audiences and stakeholders .
‘The open-call selection process allows all interested parties – human rights groups, communities, NGOs, self-candidacies, … – to nominate a representative HRD. It aims at reaching also the most isolated and less connected defenders, traditionally underrepresented, less visible categories of HRDs and HRDs belonging to categories or profiles of special concern’
